New Painting

"Marching in the Desert"
oil/linen
20x16

Here is a new painting that was recently finished. The kind of light portrayed in this painting awakens a vivid visual memory of the desert. I am in the Northeast right now but seeing this kind of light makes me want to escape into the desert for a bit.

How can the home of prickly cactus, rattle snakes and dry wind feel so welcoming to me?

Studio Photo.

A photo of my studio as it looked when I was leaving this evening.

It has been one of my best studios, if not the best. I will be moving soon so I will have to say good-bye to it. Funny thinking back at how much time I have spent in here.

One-Man Show, Scottsdale Arizona 2/5/10

I have a One-Man Show opening as Strong-Schenck Galleries in Scottsdale on February 5th, 2010. This show will feature approximately 22 new oil paintings. About half of these paintings are small landscape studies from a trip to the Glen Canyon/Lake Powell area. This is the first time I have offered so many studies for sale. I generally hang onto my outdoor studies for future studio paintings. I feel like I have used these paintings enough and am ready to let them go. Take a look at a few of the paintings from the show below:

"Shadowed Mesa" oil/canvas 12x12 available at Strong-Schenck Galleries, Scottsdale

"Near Lake Powell" oil/board 5x12, available at Strong-Schenck Galleries, Scottsdale

"Hidden Canyon" oil/board 10x15, available at Strong-Schenck Galleries, Scottsdale

"Desert Vegetation" oil/linen 8x8, available at Strong-Schenck Galleries, Scottsdale
"A Taos Trail" oil/linen 9x12, available at Strong-Schenck Galleries, Scottsdale
